Starting today March 10th we are having our March Madness happy hour every day from 5:00 pm to close. 2 for 1 well drinks. House draft $1.50 plus tax . Domestic drafts $2.50 plus tax. Come to The MOC Bar and Grill at the Moccasin Wallow Golf Club in Palmetto  FL. Six flat screen TVs to watch all of your sports. NCAA, NBA, NHL, PGA Tour golf, and much more. Stop in for some food and drinks. Restaurant open everyday to the public.

Our Grand Opening weekend was a great success. We had almost 250 people attend the  as we had a ribbon cutting, live music, fireworks, and the tour van experience.

We are now into the heart of the season. Spring Training games are just a short drive away, the beaches, shopping, but the biggie is NCAA basketball tournament March Madness. Our new MOC Bar and Grill is a great place to watch the games on our large flat screen TVs. We will run food and drink specials throughout the tournament as our “MOC Brew” is always on special.

Plan your day. Golf in the AM and then NCAA tournament action all day long. Play is $49 + tax before 12:00 and included is a hotdog and a draft beer or fountain drink in the MOC Bar and Grill after the round.

Many have said we have the best greens around. The new celebration fairways are also in great shape. We are starting to make our improvements moving forward. We have dried out the golf course to rid the over seed from our roughs so they are a good uniform cut of 1 1/2 inches. We are going to start pulling plugs from our fairways and putting them on our tee boxes to promote growth. Once that is achieved we will strip the grass, laser level the tees and then lay the sod back on it to create a great teeing surface. Our rough is going thru a major weed killer and fertilizer  program to aggressively get the weeds our and transition Bermuda grass back in.

This weekend we will have our official opening. On Friday at 5 pm we will have a ribbon  cutting followed by fireworks and live music. Saturday we will have the Tour Van Experience  as well as a few of our vendors on display, free hour d’ oeuvres to those in attendance. Come out and see The Newly renovated Moccasin Wallow Golf Club and MOC Bar and Grill.

We give our condolences to the Manatee Chamber of Commerce on the sudden passing of their president Bob Bartz. They will be having their services on Friday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chamber and the Bartz family and friends.

On Saturday March 4th, 2017 we will have our Grand Opening featuring the Tour Van Experience. Our good friend Scott Garrison  runs the largest independent support trailer on the PGA Tour.

THE SST PURE MACHINE

WHAT IS PURE-ING?

The Tour Truck carries the only PURE-ing machine on Tour and PURE-s the top players’ clubs weekly.

On every major professional tour, the best golfers in the world rely on SST PURE® Shaft Alignment to make sure their golf clubs perform consistently. At their level, they simply cannot afford mis-hit shots caused by their equipment.

Golf shafts are not perfectly straight or perfectly round. Studies have shown that irregularities in a shaft’s structure cause off-line bending and twisting during the golf swing. This causes an increase in shot dispersion or, in irons, inconsistent gapping from club to club. The SST PURE® Shaft Alignment System analyzes the structure of any golf shaft and identifies it’s most stable bending plane, or Neutral- AxisTM. When assembled in the club head, this SST PUREd® result is improved consistency from club to club within your set.

First we would like to thank everyone for their support during our “soft Opening.” We were grateful that everyone showed up the first day and loves the product we have created. We have decided to keep our rates thru February as we are going to use this month as our “spring training” for our new staff to get acclimated to our new point of sale system. We couldn’t be happier with our new staff. We are in the hospitality business and are making sure that everyone is greeted with a smile the minute they step on property. Our Rates will still be $45 before 12pm/ $35 after 12/ and $30 after 2:30. These prices do include cart. We have created a great value with the golf course and the MOC Bar and Grill and it was great to meet all of our new extended family.

On another note I have been invited to talk on Sirius/XM radio Wednesday night Channel 92 golf show “on Course” with Grand Darby and Brian Crowell and we will be talking about the past, Present, and the future of our vision for The MOC. We hope everyone can tune in and listen Wednesday night at 8pm.

thank you to everyone and we loo forward to seeing you all very soon.

Noah , Samantha, Amber , Andy, and the rest of the MOC Staff.

We are very happy to announce that we will be opening for business tomorrow Friday, February 10th , 2017. We will be open for golf and restaurant and bar with limited menu.  Tee times can be made online as well as calling. If we can non not answer please leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. We look forward to serving you all.

Thank you from all of us at The MOC.

Andy and have staff have been working really hard to get the golf course in exceptional shape. We have given a few tours of the property to give an inside look and the facility is morphing into one of the premier must plays on the west coast of Florida.

Inside the clubhouse Andy and Pedro are getting the kitchen ready for health department inspection and the electrician is working on getting all of our issues behind us bringing the facility into a great working facility so there are no hiccups once we open. The fire safety system should be completed tomorrow morning and called for inspection as well.

We have replaced all of the air conditioning units so the clubhouse will be a great comfortable area to come in and relax for a meal, a drink, or just a place to come hang out. Wifi has been installed as Verizon performed a miracle and ran close to 2500 feet of cable bringing FIOS to the building. DirecTV has installed the satellite dish as well as the boxes and we will be installing the Televisions as well.

Special thank you to Nate Ditchfield for having The MOC on the radio show teeitupradio.com and we look forward to hosting a live show in the near future.

Thank you for your patience and we will continue to update with information moving forward.

Tomorrow Saturday January 28th we @golfthemoc will be live on the air at 8:10 am on Tee it Up with Nate Ditchfield @nateditchfield locally in Sarasota-Bradenton area on 106.9 FM, 98.3 FM, and 1220 AM  or you can live stream on the web at www.srqradio.com. We’ll be talking about what we have done since we’ve purchased the course including renovations to the course, clubhouse, irrigation, plans for the bar and restaurant, as well as the different functions of the clubhouse and what we see in the future of the MOC. Tune in as it will be a great show.

We wanted to keep you in the loop of how things are progressing. In May we purchased the golf course and set out a goal of improvement to the facilities both inside and out.

On The Course

Our golf course superintendent, Andy Roberts, started in late August.  Andy came from River Hills Country Club and Bloomingdale Golfers club as the head superintendent of 2 facilities.  We have known Andy since he started in the industry at the age of 16.

The start of the golf course renovation began with the pump house and irrigation system.  The pump station underwent a major overhaul that started in mid May.  Three pumps were completely rebuilt,  The intake line was cleaned of all sand and debris and we added a new intake screen which will help from any debris from entering the intake line and wet well.

The irrigation boxes were replaced with E Osmac controllers.  The new boxes allow us full access to set irrigation run times remotely from computers and/or phone.  These boxes were installed along with the LYNX irrigation software, which is the most up to date irrigation software on the market.  Along with new controllers and computer software we replaced 350 sprinkler heads that were not functioning properly or completely. One of our main goals is to continue working on sprinkler heads bordering the property lines to keep heads adjusted and from hitting homes surrounding the property.  If you live on property and a sprinkler head is hitting your home please email Andy, our golf course superintendent, at acroberts89@gmail.com and let him know.

Greens–  We re grassed greens with Tif- Eagle Bermuda grass.  We sprigged in late August and have full coverage on all greens.  Number 5 and 7 are a little behind the rest of the greens which is why you will notice a light top dress of sand to help maintain a smooth putting surface.  We are currently mowing at .110 and greens are stimping a 10.5′.

Tees and Fairways –  We  regrassed all tees and fairways with celebration Bermuda.  We started grassing September 6th and are still fine tuning a couple of them throughout the back 9, but are all 90% coverage.  Celebration is a very aggressive growing turf which will help the balls sit up for great lies and quick divot recovery.  We have eliminated the majority of the weeds on all fairways aside from some breakthrough in 13 and 15 fairways.  To eradicate these weeds we our spraying aggressively every 5 days and have eliminated the bulk of them.

We have improved the cart path surfaces as they are actually 8′ feet wide. All of the holes have been filled in with crushed shell and will continue to compact over time.

Whats to come-

The MOC is improving daily and will continue to do so.  We have and will continue our cultural practices to maintain and improve turf conditions.  We have plans to continue improving the club with a regrassing all collars, laser leveling driving range tee and all crowned tees throughout the property, cart path repair, and eradicating weeds in the rough this spring.
